Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
-
Introduction
As the host city for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow required a wide range of temporary infrastructure and overlay solutions to support the successful delivery of the event.
Working alongside Trivandi, the Event Delivery Partner (EDP), GAP was appointed to deliver multiple overlay packages across four competition venues throughout the Games.
GAP's involvement in major sporting events is deeply rooted in our history. GAP Event Services was established following GAP's successful appointment to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and later supported the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow, including the UCI Cycling World Championships. We continued this journey at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games across five competition venues and were proud to return to Glasgow in 2026 to help deliver another major international sporting event.

What GAP Provided
From December 2025, GAP Event Services supported Trivandi in delivering infrastructure requirements for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, providing, installing, maintaining and recovering multiple overlay packages across Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Glasgow International Arena, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) and Scotstoun Stadium.
The scope included:
- 1,843 pedestrian barriers providing over 4.2km of crowd management infrastructure.
- 6.5km of fencing and access control systems.
- Welfare cabins, site accommodation, storage containers and event overlay infrastructure.
- Portable and cabin toilets.
- 24 lighting towers and 236 fire extinguishers.
- More than 7,200m² of trackway and ground protection solutions, including protection for the coverage of sensitive astroturf areas
Drawing on resources from seven GAP depots and a network of trusted rehire suppliers, GAP delivered a coordinated infrastructure solution across all four venues, demonstrating the flexibility, scale and expertise required to support a major international sporting event.

Customer Feedback
"Through the procurement process, Trivandi identified GAP as a strong candidate for a number of our Tier 2 commodity packages. As a local supplier, GAP’s genuine enthusiasm for being involved in the Games, combined with their experience and capability, made them stand out.
Over the past eight months, GAP have been an absolute pleasure to work with. The energy, commitment and attention to detail demonstrated by GAP’s team helped establish a strong and collaborative relationship between Trivandi and GAP. Through regular contract meetings, detailed planning and constant communication, each work package was developed thoroughly, which ultimately enabled a smooth transition through delivery, maintenance and, finally, the collection of all assets.
Throughout the entire project lifecycle, there was never an issue that fazed the GAP team. Their ability to provide practical solutions, adapt to changing requirements and approach challenges with patience and professionalism was invaluable.
GAP’s contribution was an important part of the wider Overlay operation and played a key role in the successful delivery of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. It has been a genuine pleasure working with the team, and I would have no hesitation in working with GAP again on future major events."
